My boss is sooooooo sarcastically funny. HAHAHAHA. HILaRIOUS!

Given that many of you will be having Spring Break this next week, why not take some of that hard-earned free time and work additional hours for Mathnasium in the noble quest of advancing the mathematics education of our youth on an hourly wage you can barely survive on?

At our Corporate facility in Ladera Heights we have a new Center developing in response to students coming in through the No Child Left Behind federal grant program. Beginning this Sunday, all of next week, and the following Sunday, we are in need of additional staff to fill in for Tanika Evans who will be gone that week. Are any of you interested in this noble cause? Please let me know ASAP.

Dedicated to the Higher Pursuit,

Mark

In no particular order : School, work, family, boyfriend, sorority, on campus orgs = I don't have time for my LJ. Sorry for my readers out there, there won't be anytihng updated for a while j/ because.. I've unintentionally abandoned my LJ and I feel sad, but ya, it's ok. I have better things to do. Hopefully this summer while I'm in London I'll have more time to update on my adventures :)

This brightened my stomach flued/ throwupness day...

Dear Alice,

I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected to study on the EAP Summer Program at Sussex University for 2006. This will hopefully be one of the most memorable experiences of your UCLA career. Your application has been forwarded to the University-wide Office of the Education Abroad Program (UOEAP) in Santa Barbara.

You are now entering into the next phase of your EAP study abroad experience. This is where you must begin to prepare yourself for a successful time abroad, both personally and academically. EAP involves a complex relationship between UCLA, UOEAP, and the EAP staff in the UK. You may receive correspondence from any of these entities. It is your responsibility to make sure you understand all program materials and respond promptly when called to do so.

You should begin to prepare yourself for your time abroad by learning as much about your destination as possible. In order to continue your status on EAP, you must maintain the minimum GPA required for your specific program, remain in good standing, complete all program requirements, submit all required paperwork on time, and attend all mandatory meetings. Please see the enclosed "What to Expect" sheet for more information. Should you have the need to withdraw from EAP, you will need to provide notification to me in the form of a letter or an email message. Withdrawal deadlines are listed on the signature page of your EAP application.

***Please confirm with me and Rebecca Pisano via email (sara@international.edu and rpisano@international.ucla.edu) that you have read and understand this letter.***

We will keep in touch with you regularly; check your email account at least once a week for further instructions, announcements, etc. Please make sure to notify me if and when you move, change your telephone number or email address. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns and I'll do my best to assist you in any way I can.

You will be receiving a packet of further documentation to complete in April. I will alert you when it is ready to pick up from the UCLA EAP Office. There will also be a mandatory pre-departure orientation in late April and/or early May. More details will be forthcoming. Congratulations on your acceptance to the program!

Sincerely,

Sara McLachlan
International Programs Counselor

Today.. 2nd day of work, cept at a different location in Westwood... and I realized that kids these days are spoiled to no limit. and here are reasons why:

1. 5th grader, while I was tutoring, pulls out her moto razor b/c her friend called her and she complained "she always like to call me".. and I'm thinking "wow, your phone is better than mine by like 1000000X" Granted, she was wearing a shirt that says "I heart my daddy's credit card," obviously a shirt from Abercrombie.
2. a 7th grader was about to leave the tutoring center, busts out her pink t-mobile sidekick. There I was thinking.. "dang, I didn't even get a cell phone till 10th grade and you scored a sidekick from your parents?"
3. a 12 year old girl came up to me and asked "are those seven jeans?" and I was like "yes they are" and she went "OMG, they're so cute!" and i was thinking.. "girl, you're 12, and you know about sevens.."

What has the world come to? Oh wait, I live in L.A

My 21st :)

Feb. 9th, 2006 | 07:01 pm
I'm Feeling a Little: happy happy

Lets see... on the midnight of 2/5/06 marked the 21st year I've been on this planet... and I celebrated with basically all the people I loved dearly: Special thanks to all of you for the phone calls, text msgs, IMs, Facebook msgs, showing up to my night out excursions.. and what not.. :)

Here is the rundown:

Part l'un: Dinner with the family @ Macaroni Grill
So.. it's been a semi-tradition in our family to take the birthday person out to whichever restaurant they want to go, so I decided to go to Macaroni Grill this year :) I picked Tokyo Lobby last time but I was craving some Italian food :) So... I went out with my family and uncle's family.

My adorable cute brother bought me a birthday card!!! My uncle told me that he took him to Wal-Mart and then my brother asked my uncle to take him to the card aisle because he rememberd my birthday was coming up, so then he picked out a card for me and wrote "Dear Alice and Love Jonathan" in the card. I swear, it was the cutest thing ever, and now it's taped on my wall :)

birthday

Part Deux: Alice in Wonderland @ Hollywood & Sunset
Since I'm turning 21, I wanted to go out bar hopping. What good of a birthday if someone has to drive us around? so... I got a LIMO! :) H2 Hummer, we partied like a rock star :). Everyone that I wanted to go to my lil sunset, hollywood excursion went! I had the FUNNEST drunken time E-V-E-R!

$384 H2 Hummer Limo
$130 Puking in the Limo
$4 Riding the bull @ Saddle Ranch Drunk
$100000000000 Alcohol
$5 Pink's Hotdog
Don't remember all that much from that night- Priceless

There are some things that money can buy, but you can't buy the memories I had for my 21st birthday w/ the ones I love. WHEE

WhEE NO SCHoOL DAY!

Feb. 2nd, 2006 | 01:34 am
I'm Feeling a Little: happy happy

Much went on over the last 24 hours:

- 80's themed party, I looked like I came out of the 80's. it was fun :) Pictures will be up soon?
- McDs YUMM. Cheeseburgers tasted 10000X better when you're intoxicated. (and I mean, McD cheeseburgers are amazing w/o the intoxication, think about it after the substance abuse)
- Frizolie: Italian FASTFOOD restaurant in Moreno Valley with a friggen drive through line. I swear, Min and I almost had a heart failure because it was amazingly yummy AND cool! You get like the workers walking around with a basket giving you garlic breadsticks!! Um, that's j/ wayy cool (they should get one in LA, I think I'm falling in love with Moreno Valley, that town is the SH*T)
- R&R @ Angela's Nail Salong w/ Min :) har har har. yay for spa pedicures. TICKLE!
- Ontario's Mill: Failure in attempt to find Min some dopeass aviators :(
- Noodle World in Alhambra & the mouth watering mango w/ sticky rice (which I've been craving since I went to banana bay but they claimed that mango is "off season" so they didn't have it.. BoO.

In conclusion: I LOVEEE MY BF & I LOVE FOOD!

** Sounds like I've been getting fat eh? don't worry.. I will be hitting the gym shortly, and you know, that'll only burn off calories for ONE item, and... that is.. my cheeseburger.. damn gym. I hate those "calories meter" shit. I swear, you run a mile and all u burn is like a banana. LOL.. I think I burn more calories sitting and breathing or sleeping or something. HAHA

I'm Feeling a Little: disgusted disgusted

I started my day with a dead rat in the garage... or 1/2 alive, i guess. So, I was about to head out to start my car, I opened the door to the garage and I looked for my shoes and there lay a furry thing with a supurb long tail... and I was like FREAKING OUT cuz it's one thing to see a hamster dead, but a rat? and it was like maybe a softball size big rat lying under my sister's sneakers. I closed the door, and like started panicking. I opened the door again to see if it was alive, and I saw it breathing, because the abdomen of the rat was expanding and contracting.. so I was like "damn it, what the hell is it doing there lying under a shoe?!" But u see, I really had to go out, but I was afraid that it'd attack me and run around my foot or something .. so then I pulled the water sprayer thing out of the faucet, and started spraying water at it.. and it started moving... and it's head popped out of the shoe, and I was like "ok, it IS alive.. but just not moving"...

So.. to rescue myself, I called my neighbor's dad and he came over and sweeped the rat up for me... I think the rat ate poison that my dad placed around the garage and it was on the verge oe dying.. so yea. Poor thing :( I felt bad, but then I'm not all that into rats either, their tails are segmented and long and it looks like an earth worm attached to their behind!! EWWW

... ok, so that's my story with the dead rat.

I'm Feeling a Little: blah blah

I miss my friends from Taiwan :( *sniff*...

I've been feeling really emotional lately, and I feel like I've been bottling up too much emotions lately.. but going to the gym helps me relieve the tension/emotional ups and downs. When I go to the gym, listening to fast/up beat songs doesn't motivate me. Listening to sad songs does. Don't ask me why, I feel like I have more endurance when I'm sad and feeling emotional, it just makes me want to run forever.. and never stop.

can you tell... that I've been neglecting my LJ?! ya.. it's only second wk of school and I'm going crazy.

Last wkend. Rosarito, Mentorship retreat. off the hook:
- Driving down to Mexico for the first time in my life.. (last time I took a cruise.. haha)
- Can't distinguish street lanes because there are really no dividers
- People getting pulled over by the cop for driving on the bike lane (HAHA.. b/c we can't tell what's what)
- Getting lost finding our hotel because there are really no legible street signs
- Yay Hi 5, we kicked ass but didn't earn our champagne :(
- Ghetto ass mattresses and gross toilets & bathrooms
- CARNE ASADA - love of my life, I think i'd go down to Mexico just to eat carne asada tacos
- Club Iggy's, fun yet the guys were disgusting
- Drunk off of our ass two night in the row
- "Smells like poverty"
- Crossing the border and the first thing we saw was COSTCO
- Took 1 hour to cross the border coming back to the states
- Creative people I got to hang out with for the whole entire wkend
- Living like a queen for only few bux. haha
- Coke tastes different in Mexico. It's like drinking syrup w/o carbonation

You know where to find the pictures. I'm lazy and it takes too much effort to put them up.

-that's how they get us...its like when u play hockey and just do trash shoots...well...guys are normally more logical...yet after so much garbage coming their way...u just can't help but a few slip"

- quoted from my BF's profile.. HAHA. Sweet yet.. so true in terms of my arguments :/. I know, how embarrassing.

MmMm Oatmeal

Dec. 23rd, 2005 | 02:03 am
I'm Feeling a Little: amused amused

damn commercials... so yesterday I was lounging around and watching TV and suddenly an oatmeal commercial came on.. and this aint some normal ordinary plain oatmeal.. it's instant Quakers oatmeal with flavors. and no, not maple brown suger or peach (which are my favorite).. but with HAZELNUT COCONUT!! so I got tempted and went to the supermarket today and bought some.. things they come up with in Taiwan/Japan.. mann. HAHA. They even have green tea with oatmeal and milktea with oatmeal. I mean, if they've got BOBA milktea, why not OATMEAL milktea? haha. It sounds gross, i know, but it's actually REALLY good. I think I'm gonna have to bring some back to the states now ;)

Oh.. and why do I find it shady that UCLA rec center is attempting to find instructors through CRAIGSLIST?!?
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/edu/119853920.html Wth.. haha. lame.
